Trump's Tweets Finally Fade From Television News

Feature Charticle

President Trump's tweets have been a steady fixture on television news, with CNN, MSNBC and Fox News each devoting more than 14 hours over the past year to displaying them onscreen, while even BBC News has spent more than 5 hours showing them.

Since his ban earlier this month, however, @realDonaldTrump is finally fading from the television screen. While mentions continued for another week and a half, over the past week his tweets have faded to just a few seconds of airtime a day, as his disappearance from the spotlight continues.

The streamgraph below shows how many seconds of airtime per day his tweets have received since January 1, 2020.

The heatmap below shows the hourly distribution of those tweet displays in UTC, showing that almost every second of every day there was a Trump tweet onscreen for at least a second or two and how over the last two weeks those appearances have faded to their lowest levels of the time span.
