As gender diversity issues have attracted more attention in recent years, it is worth noting that the timeline below of mentions of the words "woman" and "women" shows little change over the past decade and even a slight decrease from September 2019. This doesn't mean that individual women are not being mentioned more, but that the broader terms "woman" and "women" are not.
From the start of the data in July 2009, CNN used the terms "man" and "men" noticeably more than Fox News and MSNBC, but have been in lock step since August 2016. From January 2017 to March 2017, the beginning of Donald Trump's first term, mentions of the two words dropped more than a percent.
