Juneteenth Finally Gets Television News Attention After A Decade Of Silence

The timeline below shows mentions of Juneteenth on CNN, MSNBC and Fox News by week over the past decade, using data from the Internet Archive’s Television News Archive processed by the GDELT Project.

Despite its significance, the day has received almost no coverage over the past decade, with just 37 mentions on CNN, 26 on MSNBC and 22 on Fox News. In contrast, over the past month, it has been mentioned 819 times on MSNBC, 528 on CNN and 248 on Fox News – an enormous improvement, but still just a tiny fraction of what other topics receive every day.
