Tara Reade All But Disappears From Television News
The rise of the #MeToo movement over the past three years meant allegations of sexual assault against powerful figures typically received wall-to-wall media coverage, with allegations against Brett Kavanaugh receiving near-constant coverage on television news for more than a month.
Yet, when it comes to the allegations against presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden by Tara Reade, news outlets have been only too eager to move on, publicly question her allegations or even attack her personally. Despite just months ago proclaiming that assault victims must be believed absolutely, even Politico recently ran an article with the headline describing Ms. Reade as “Manipulative, deceitful.”
When it comes to television news coverage, CNN and MSNBC have afforded her story just a brief burst of attention from May 1-4, with just a few brief mentions since. Fox News has mentioned her name the most of the three, beginning in mid-April and peaking May 1, but even it has steadily phased out its coverage over the course of this month.
Since the beginning of April, Fox has mentioned her 888 times, MSNBC 256 times and CNN just 79 times.
