Great American Stories: Political Birthdays

This would have been Nancy Reagan's 100th birthday. Although she will always be associated in our minds with California, the future Mrs. Reagan was born on July 6, 1921, at New York City's Sloane Hospital for Women. Though christened Anne Frances Robbins, from the start her family called her Nancy. Today is also George W. Bush's birthday. Likewise, the eldest child of George Herbert Walker and Barbara Pierce Bush was not born in the state where he "belongs." Texan by temperament and choice, Dubya was born in New Haven, Conn., on this date in 1946. Happy birthday, sir.
